Machilus Thunbergii 【椨】

It is a broad leaved evergreen tree belonging to Machilus genus of Lauraceae family. The difference of the sapwood and the duramen is very clear. The sapwood is grayish-white and the duramen is reddish-brown. The tree with red color is called “Akatab” and valued for its rarity.
