Japanese Zelkova 【欅】

The sapwood is white and the duramen is yellowish-brown. The quality of the wood is rather heavy and hard. Both the resistance to damp and the durability is excellent. It is used for building, for furniture and for a central pillar of temples and shrines since old days in Japan.
